Savignano sul Panaro

On the opposite bank of the Panaro from Vignola, Savignano sul Panaro was for centuries the Modenese outpost on the border with the territories of Bologna. Its castle was the domain of the Contrari, lords of Vignola, and still today its ancient fortified village offers unique views and a splendid view of the hills and the plain below. Savignano is also connected to Vignola by rail, and is so close that it is also an ideal stop for a leisurely ride or for a long walk departing from the center of Vignola.
